Merry Christmas

Lunacy, sometimes, is a blessing hard to come by. He is a doctor in a very busy hospital, the Chief Casualty Medical Officer. He has seen many grievous and macabre wounds. He thought he was immune to every one of those hurts. They were just cases, not humans to be fretted over. Until today. Today he is attending to a five year old girl who has been raped repeatedly. By her father. Her sick father, who then stabs her a few times and brings her to the hospital. He is in police custody now. Laughing at the doctors and challenging them to save the girl. The patient, not the case, our protagonist realise. He is sure he had never been immune to anything. He had just stored all his emotions in some dark corner of his wounded mind. And today they are all cascading out of him in a torrent of gruesome emotions. He wants to go home. He wants to go mad. He keeps on praying for lunacy as he attends to the patient. But his prayers go unheeded. God does not hear him.

God is busy celebrating Christmas and preparing for the coming new year.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
